You can add a new format definition or change an existing definition. Before you add a new definition, you should make sure than none of the existing definitions contain the control sequence you need. If you decide to add a new definition, you must first determine the correct control sequence for the configuration you want on a particular destination. Then you can assign a meaningful label to the sequence and add the definition.
Use the documentation for your destination to determine what the control sequence should be. For example, if you want to configure a certain printer for landscape printing, you need to look up the PCL control sequence for landscape printing in the printer’s manual. Then you can enter that sequence into the Control Sequence field on the Add a Format Definition window. Once you have created a format definition for a destination, that definition is available to documents submitted to that destination.
Click Admin in the main menu and select Pcap formats from the menu options. The Printer Capability Formats page opens.
If you want to add the format definition at the top of the list, click the first row and select Add format before from the pop-up menu options. The Pcap Format window opens.
If you want to insert the definition below a row, click on the appropriate row and select Add format after from the pop-up menu options. The Pcap Format window opens.
In the Capability field, select the printer capability from the pull-down list. The options are PCLx (any PCL-capable printer), PostScript, IBMPro, VT100slave, or enter a new capability if you ant to add another printer capability type
In the Format name field, enter the name that you want to give the format. For example, each of the preconfigured format definitions uses an abbreviation that describes the format. In the format name tr10p66, tr stands for the Times Roman font, 10 stands for 10-point type, p stands for portrait orientation, and 66 stands for 66 lines per page.
NOTE: The maximum number of characters allowed is 10. Enter an asterisk (*) if you want EasySpooler to send the format definition to a destination when the printer capability and data type match that of the destination.
Click
the select icon to the right of the Data
types field. The Select Supported Data Types window opens.
NOTE: You can select all data
types by clicking the All
button. To deselect any or all data
types click the None button.
On the Select Supported Data Types window, select the data type(s) or select Custom and enter a custom data type in the field
After you have selected the data types click OK. The Select Supported Data Type window closes.
In
the Operation field, on the
Add Pcap Format window, select the operation from the pull-down list
NOTE: The operation affects
when EasySpooler sends the control sequence(s) to the destination.
For example, if you select Begin, EasySpooler sends the control sequence(s) to the destination
before it sends the document.
In the Sequence field enter the control sequence(s) in ASCII or check the box to the right of From file and enter the full path name of the file that contains the control sequence(s).
