Add an Alias Definition

Alias definitions are evaluated in the order they appear in the list on the Aliases window. You may want to add an alias definition to be in a specified order.

To add an alias definition:

  1. Click Destinations in the main menu and select Aliases from the menu options. The Aliases window opens and lists previously defined alias definitions.

  2. Determine where you want the alias definition to be in the list:

    1. If you want to add the alias definition at the end of the list, click +Add alias.

    2. If you want the alias definition to be evaluated in a specific order, find the row where you want to insert a definition. Left click on the row and select Add alias after from the pop-up menu. If you selected the item listed in the first row, you have the option of selecting Add alias before.

The Add Aliases window opens.

  1. Enter the name of the alias in the Name field. The maximum number of characters is 46. Avoid special characters and spaces.

  2. Click the printer icon to the right of the Destination field. The Select A Destination window opens.

    1. Click on the name of the printer for which you are adding an alias. The Add Alias window reopens and the selected destination is in the Destination field.

NOTE: On the Select a Destination window, in the Search field type all or part of the information for which you want to limit the list of destinations displayed for selection. If you want to search your preferred destinations only, select Preferred Only. See Preferences. Also see the Help topic on that page.

  1. On the Add Alias window, in the Parameters field, enter any command line parameters to be used when a document is spooled to the destination alias.

    NOTE:
For more information on aliases and optional parameters, see the section on the lpsalias file in Chapter 3 of the ROC EasySpooler Developer's Guide.

  1. In the Comments field, enter any comments about the alias and the destination.

  2. Click OK on the Add Alias window.

  3. The Aliases window reopens and the alias is listed. When finished click Close.
