Working with EasySpooler Log Files

You can work with and manage the EasySpooler logs in the following ways:

You can access the management tasks for the EasySpooler log files in the following two ways:

 

NOTE: The examples below use the appropriate options from the menus.

 

View Startup Log

The startup log gives information about any problems encountered during initialization.

NOTE: The Startup log is relevant only for UNIX and Linux servers.

 

To view the Startup Log:

  1. Click Admin in the main menu.

  2. From the menu options, select EasySpooler server and select View startup log from the drop-down list

EasySpooler displays the startup log in a new window.

 

View Server Log

The server log (log) is the file to which EasySpooler logs all errors and messages.

 

To view the log for the EasySpooler server:

  1. Click Admin in the main menu.

  2. From the menu options, select EasySpooler server and select View server log from the drop-down list.

EasySpooler displays the server log in a new window.

The most recent activity appears at the top of the display with age increasing down the page. Information in each column is as follows:

Roll Server Log

You can manually start a new log file for the EasySpooler server.

To roll the log for the EasySpooler server:

  1. Click Admin in the main menu.

  2. From the menu options, select EasySpooler server and select Roll server log from the drop-down list.

  3. The confirmation page opens, click Close.

Archive the Server Log

You can archive up to 999 log files by setting the global tuning parameter, logrollmax. You can also specify the day and time that EasySpooler restarts the log file by setting the global tuning parameter, killlog. The killlog and logrollmax parameters are on the General tab of the Global Tuning parameters window.
