EasySpooler does not accept service requests from an unknown host. Accordingly, you must identify any hosts that are allowed to send requests to EasySpooler.
In addition to being identified as allowed, hosts may be further identified as trusted. If a host is trusted, EasySpooler trusts the user information that the host sends and it relies on that information for access control and mapping. For more information, see Access Control and User Mapping.
If a host is allowed, but not trusted, EasySpooler does not trust the user information that the host sends. EasySpooler relies instead on remote permissions for access control and mapping. See Remote Permissions and Remote Mapping.
The $LPSDIR/adm/hosts.lpd file is a security file that designates the hosts that are allowed to submit requests to EasySpooler. When you add a host to the hosts.lpd file, you indicate whether or not the host is trusted. If you click Trusted, it is allowed and trusted. If you do not click Trusted, it is allowed, but untrusted.
The $LPSDIR/adm/hosts.lpd file is the primary file in which you specify the hosts that are allowed and trusted and any that are allowed, but untrusted. Through the Web UI, you can easily create this file, add hosts to it, and indicate the hosts that are trusted and untrusted.
